Phillip Wade graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine
Arts in Philadelphia ; it is the nation’s oldest art school, and the
instruction was grounded in traditional  painting techniques. A chance
meeting with distinguished Austin artist Bob Levers led to a full
scholarship in the MFA Painting program at the U. of Texas. Wade, a
full-time artist, has exhibited in many galleries, and is in innumerable
collections around the country,  such as the Driskill Hotel,  Blanton
Museum director Jesse Otto Hite, Mr.and Mrs. Ben Bentsen, and
actress Diane Ladd.  A recent one hundred foot mural project was at
the ranch of Mr. and Mrs. Mort Topfer.

He has taught painting and design at the Austin Museum of Art since
1997.
